Steam Link op iOS
Onlangs kondigde Steam-platformhouder Valve aan dat Steam Link naar mobiele apparaten zou komen. Met de app is het mogelijk pc-games te spelen op je smartphone of tablet (of mediaspeler voor onder de tv) en inmiddels kunnen Android-gebruikers al aan de slag. iOS-gebruikers moeten nog even wachten, omdat Apple de release heeft tegengehouden. Echter, nu heeft Apple in een reactie bevestigd dat het bedrijf samenwerkt met Valve om de applicatie alsnog naar het iOS-besturingssysteem te brengen. Phil Schiller zegt:
We care deeply about bringing great games to all of our users on the App Store. We would love for Valve’s games and services to be on iOS and Apple TV. Unfortunately, the review team found that Valve’s Steam iOS app, as currently submitted, violates a number of guidelines around user generated content, in-app purchases, content codes, etc. We’ve discussed these issues with Valve and will continue to work with them to help bring the Steam experience to iOS and Apple TV in a way that complies with the store’s guidelines.
Schiller doet natuurlijk ook een beetje aan damage control, maar het goede nieuws is dus dat Steam Link onderweg is naar iOS en tvOS. Maar dan moet Valve waarschijnlijk nog wel het één en ander aanpassen.
